Dr John Gowardman is a Senior Staff Specialist in Intensive Care, a posiion he has held since 2006.
Dr Gozwardman is dual qualified, holding the FRACP in acute and general medicine as well as the FCICM, having gained original fellowships in 1994. Trained in Auckland, he has held staff specialist positions in New Zealand (Wellington), Tasmania (Launceston) and the ACT.
Dr Gowardman’s current interest include quality assurance, having chaired the Intensive Care Services QI meeting for the last 10 years. He is currently chair of the ANZICS safety and quantity committee.
Dr Gowardman is also a senior examiner for the CICM a position held since 2007 and is an SOT for the RBWH ICU.
Dr Gowardman has published widely in the fields of short term intravascular device infections and has been principal investigator for a number of large international studies. Additionally he regularly reviews for several international critical care publications including Critical Care Medicine.
